State & Federal Grants

Apart from the Small Harbor Improvement Projects Program (SHIPP) Grants, administered by the Connecticut Port Authority, there are additional funding sources administered by other entities that are available to help small harbors, deepwater ports, and coastal communities improve shoreline infrastructure or advance environmental responsibility initiatives. Below is a non-exhaustive list of such additional opportunities.

  • Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) Grants provide resources to improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the movement of freight and people in and across rural and urban areas. Learn more>

  • Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grants fund roadway, transit, rail, maritime, and aviation infrastructure improvements that improve safety, reduce congestion, and spur economic growth.  Learn more>

  • Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) Grants support projects that improve the safety, efficiency, or reliability of the movement of goods into, out of, around, or within a port.

  • Small Town Economic Assistance Program funds economic development, community conservation and quality-of-life capital projects for localities that are ineligible to receive Urban Action bonds. Learn more>
